FOALS: 

Our very first foal of 2004  was born January 5, a beautiful bay Wolkenstein II filly who delighted her owner, Shelley Leibbrandt in Oklahoma. She is healthy with a big shoulder, good neck and perfect legs ñ a great start to the 2004 foaling/breeding season. Congratulations Shelley!

Cindy Reese (Fl) announced the birth of wonderful chestnut Weltmeyer colt out of her mare, After Glow. Cindy says the colt is the very image of his famous sire.

EM Wieta (Weltmeyer) foaled a black Escudo colt March 15 for Dr. Steve and Bettie Carroll. The handsome colt entertains everyone with his independent and friendly nature. Closet Dancer xx foaled a beautiful feminine Weltano filly April 8 for the Carrolls (NC).

Karen Batchellerís Matcho mare, Monette, foaled a bold, energetic black DeNiro filly in March. The striking filly loves to put on a show. Karenís EM Bewitched (Bolero) delivered a typey chestnut Wolkentanz filly with exceptional movement (OR). EM Flair (Wendekreis) presented Shawn and Deanna Kacer with a beautiful chestnut Grand Cru filly (CA). Abby has lovely long correct legs, big gaits and an outgoing likeable personality.

Waldrebe had a gorgeous Werther colt, French Kiss for Betsy Smith and Gunnar Lund (MD). A beautiful chestnut Weltmeyer filly joined a full sister and full brother out of Bolita for Karen Zacha (CA).

Maggi Clark announced the births of 3 Classically-Sired foals. An elegant dark bay Contendro filly from Aerial (WA). Maggi Clark was very pleased with her chestnut Weltmeyer filly from Wiegenlied (Werther). The filly has a great personality and terrific conformation. Maggiís Maurice mare, Mirroirs, produced a super bay Wolkenstein II colt, Wooster. DeLorean, a compact, leggy bay filly with wonderful rhythmic movement by Don Frederico, was born to Whatagirl (Wolkentanz) for Nancy Connolly (WA). Don Rico, a handsome dark bay colt to Don Frederico was born to Pikzee. He was bred by John and Tracey Weyl (KY). DeLorian, a black colt by Don Frederico was born to Waldrebe for Dr. Betsy Smith and Gunnar Lund (MD). Fess Parker, a typey dark bay colt with a great top-line, was born to Ginger Alley xx for Dr. Neil and Heidi Valk (TN). Karen Therman (OR) announced the birth of a Lanthan colt June 7. LeBen, a black Latimer colt, was born to the Grusus mare, Goldilocks. LeBen was bred by John and Tracey Weyl (KY). Liz Jenner (CA) was excited about her black Rotpon filly from Chatari, born May 16, and Weltkyre (Weltmeyer/Boldstur) a lovely chestnut filly. Cathy McCord (MO) announced the birth of a bay Weltmeyer filly from Dakota Lil.

 

Inspections:

Overlook Farms Hanoverian Inspection (OR):  5 fillies of exceptional quality were presented - 4/5 were Classically Sired.  Volker Ehlers said the Germans could not have done better.  At the head of the class Karen Batcheller's stunning Wolkentanz filly from her Elite Hanoverian Mare, Bewitched (Bolero).  The filly enchanted the audience with her gorgeous face, excellent type and undeniable movement.  Other fillies included Karen's spectacular black DeNiro filly from Monette (Matcho), Nancy Connolly's lovely bay Don Frederico filly from Whatagirl (Wolkentanz), and Deanna Kacer's elegant dark chestnut Grand Cru filly from my mare, Elite Hanoverian Flair (Wendekreis).

Francesca (Wanderer/ Pia Blanca [Pik Solo]) successfully completed her Hanoverian Mare Performance Test at the North Star Farm Hanoverian Inspection.  The talented dark bay mare received a score of 10 for scope, and 9 for technique - clearly a candidate for the AHS Jumper Program.  Francesca was bred and is owned by Judy Hedreen (WA).

Oakwood Farm's Hanoverian Inspection:  For Play (For Feeling/ Goldilocks [Grusus]) was Champion Mare.  Everyone falls in love with this beautiful, charming chestnut mare, bred by John and Tracey Weyl. (KY).

Paxton Farm's Hanoverian Inspection:  Grand Marnier (Grand Cru/ Courvoisier [Cheenook]) was Champion Mare.  The lovely bay mare was praised for her elasticity, great legs and excellent conformation.  Marnie was bred by John and Tracey Weyl (KY) and is owned by Sheilagh Gainer (OH).    Don Rico (Don Frederico/ Pikzee [Paladium]) was Top Colt.  The typey, handsome dark bay colt wowed everyone with his movement.  John and Tracey Weyl bred this colt as well.

Stonecrop Hanoverian Inspection:  Dr. Steve and Bettie Carroll's elegant black Escudo colt out of Classically-Sired Wieta (Wolkenstein II/ Lilith [Lauries Crusador]) was top foal .

Laurel (Londonderry/ EM Winterset [Weltmeyer]) was Champion of the Hanoverian Mare Performance Test at the Mid-Atlantic Hanoverian Breeders Club with an overall score of 7.84!  The elegant chestnut mare received a 9 for the walk, 7 for trot and 8 for canter with an 8 for rideability.  She also jumped well with a 7.5 overall score and 8 for jumping ability.  Dr. Steve and Bettie Carroll (NC) are the proud owners/breeders.

Welttanzer (Weltmeyer/ EM Bewitched [Bolero]) ranked #5 at the 2004 Stallion Performance Test with outstanding scores in both dressage and jumping.  The gorgeous chestnut stallion is owned by Jane Epperson (OR) and was bred by Karen Batcheller (OR).  WarCloud (Wolkentanz/ EM Ballone [Bolero]) passed his 2004 Stallion Performance Test also showing his versatility with good scores for both dressage and jumping.  The elegant chestnut stallion was bred and is owned by Marsha Anderson (CA).

 

Competitions:

InHand:

Letter Perfect Show (WA):  Grand Cervelle (Grand Cru/ EM Flair [Wendekreis]) was a star in her first ever show.  She won her Fillies of 2004 Class, then was Reserve Champion Filly, and 2nd in the Hanoverian Class.  By the end of the day she had things all figured out, posed for the judge and showed off her elastic trot on the triangle for owner/breeder Deanna Kacer (CA).

Ciao Bella (Caprimond/ Mirroirs [Maurice]) won her Yearling Fillies Class and went on to become Filly Champion at the big Evergreen Classis (WA).   The beautiful, elegant dark bay filly was bred and is owned by Maggi Clark (WA).

When Worlds Unite (Weltmeyer/Elegant Miss)  was Mare Champion at the Sporthorse Tournier in Spokane (WA) after winning her Mare Class. The elegant 5 year old black mare was bred and is owned by Marion O'Connor (ID).

Renowned Victory (Rotspon/ Victory at Concord) is the 2004 National Reserve Champion of the USDF Breeders Series for Yearling Fillies.  The superb black filly is as personable and easy to work with as she is beautiful.  Sarah Needham owns and bred the filly.

 

Under Saddle:

Weltina (EMC Weltmeyer/ Bastiella [Welt As]) is ranked seventh in the standings for the Hartwig prize for North American bred mares. The beautiful chestnut mare was bred by Nancy Schulba. She is out of a full sister to Olympic Bonfire.

Wolkentana (Wolkentanz/ Dom Perignon [Domingo]) has been invited to work with Klaus Balkenhol on the USEF Young Horse Day. Wolkentana is owned by Dorothy Chappell and is ridden by Jessie Steiner. The talented chestnut mare was bred by Dr. Steve and Bettie Carroll.

Rosalynd (Rotspon/ ) was a super star at her first USDF show (Dressage at Latta in Huntersville, NC) early April. She won all 4 tests at Training Level 1&2 with scores from 67.7% to 77.7%!! She received 8ís for her gaits and five 9ís for her trot work and final halt. Another winner for Dr. Steve and Bettie Carroll!!

Weltreise (Wolkenstein II/ JK Born to Shop) won both her classes (Intro B and Training Level 1) in her first dressage show with her owner/breeder/rider Cindy King.

Willow Rose (Weltmeyer/ EM Femme Fatale), the beautiful, accomplished gray mare continues her success in 2004 for Dr. Betsy Smith and Gunnar Lund (MD). At the Morven Park Breed Show Willow Rose was Filly Champion and won the Materiale Class. At the VADA/NOVA Breed Show she was Reserve Champion Young Horse and won the Suitability and Mares Under Saddle Classes. Willow Rose also won the Materiale Class at the Lexington VA Breed Show.

Ft. Vancouver Show (WA):  The top 2 places in the USDF Materiale Class for 4 Year Olds were won by Classically-Sired horses.  In first place was Holly John's handsome gray stallion by Wolkenstein II our of Chehalis (Chrysos).  Holly bred and rode him.  In second place was Fiedler (Fabriano/ Anja [Askan]), in his first show under saddle.  The elegant chestnut gelding is owned and was bred by Anne Schmidt (OR).

Gemstone (Grand Cru/ Neah Bayxx [Final Pool xx]) was Champion of the Level 4 Jumpers at the Evergreen Classic (WA) in only her 4th show.  Gemstone was bred and is owned by Judy Hedreen. (WA).

 

Stallions:

Weltmeyer has yet another honor to add to his unbelievable list of accomplishments.  He is the Leading Sire with the most offspring in Horse of the Year Competitions for USDF 1999-2003.  He is also the Leading Damsire with the most offspring in Horse of the Year Competitions.  The golden stallion celebrated his 20th birthday in 2004 to much fanfare in Germany.
